Steel erection and hybrid construction

STEEL ERECTION CONSIDERATIONS 


Erection of the structural steelwork means the assembly of individual steel members into a structure on site. This shall include lifting and placing objects in a particular position, and then connecting them together. The connection system including welding and bolting can be used for this purpose. 

There are some tasks that should be considered while erecting the steel on site. 

1. There shall be adequate access roads where there can be safe delivery of supplies and proper movement of equipment 

2. The foundation should be checked that if it is suitable for such steel erections. 

3. While the steel components are lifted by cranes or other means, the position of the member in the building shall be taken care of. 

4. Bolted connections are made but not fully tightened to ensure the proper positioning of the members. 

5. The structural steel assembly happens via structural stability, walking surfaces, plumbing up and metal decking. 

Erection of steel members is definitely not an easy task. Skilled labors and proper guidance are required.


















 

HYBRID CONSTRUCTION 

Can steel be used along with any other material in the construction? Yes. 
Wood is one of the best examples on how it can be mixed with steel. 

Looking at the properties of wood, it reacts to humidity, is weak and vulnerable, and has good compressive strength. While steel is tensile, is strong and predictable. Quite opposite right? They do really well when they are combined together. 

The compressive strength of wood and the tensile strength of steel justifies the stability and durability of the building.
