" THOUGHTS OF STEEL - MARKET FORMS OF STEEL "

   Hello guys!

Today we discuss available market steel forms. There are several types of steel sections available in the market and they have some unique advantages for construction and joining. The standard shapes of rolled steel sections are available in the market.

Angel section does have equal and unequal legs. 20mm X 20MMX 3MM - 20mm  X 200MM X 25MM is the available size for equal leg in the market. For an unequal angel section 30mmx20mmx3mm - 200mmx150mmx18mm are available. It is used for steelworks especially in the construction of steel roof trusses and filler joist floor. (1) (2)

Channel sections do consist of a web with two flanges.100mm 45mm - 400mm x 100mm is the available market size. The Channel section has been divided into junior, light, and medium channels. It is mostly used as a structural member of the frame structure. (1) (2)

Corrugated sheets are formed by passing steel sheets through grooves. These grooves bend and press steel sheets. These sheets widely used for roof covering. (1) (2)

Expanded metal is mostly used for reinforcing concrete in foundations, roads, bridges, etc… It is also used as a lathing material for partitions. It is mostly machine cut. (1) (2)

T-sections are used in steel roof trusses. It does consist of flange and web.  20mmx 20mmx 3mm - 150mmx 150mmx 10mm are the common available size in markets. (2)

I-section is two flanges connected by the web. It is mostly for beams and columns because it does has  . 150mmx 100mmx 100mm - 600mmx 250mm are the common available size in markets. (2)

Plates sections of steel are usually used to connect steel beams for extension of the length, to serve as tension member for a steel roof truss. 5mm-50mm is the available thickness of the market steel. (2)

Ripped bars are the high strength steel. It is mostly used as reinforcement in a concrete structure, foundations, etc… it is available 6mm to 50mm diameter in the market. It is also called high yield strength deformed(HYSD). it can be bend 180-degree angel, by electric flush it can be weld according to the thickness and heat. (2)

Round bars are mostly used for reinforcement for columns and beams which is a more flexible and common bar used in construction. It may vary from 5mm to 250mm diameter in thickness. (1)

Square bars are commonly used for steel grills, windows, customized furniture, etc… it may vary from 5mm to 250mm thickness.  (2)

Flat bars are commonly used for grill works. The size of the steel varies from 10mm to 400mm thickness. (1)

Ribbed mild steel bars are mostly in the form of hot rolled mild steel. Due to its bond strength, it has not used for RCC work. (2)

TMT bars (Thermo Mechanically Treated Bars) with high strength at the surface in mild steel. Due to high elongations at yield points increase the bond strength. (2)

CTS bars( Cold Twisted Deformed Bars ) corrode much faster than other steel bars and not used in many advanced countries but it is introduced material if India 1960s. (2)
