"THOUGHTS OF STEEL CASE STUDIES"

   Hey guys!

Today we discuss case studies of st Andrews beach house (Andrew's beach, victories) and Prefabricated nature (Cedeira, Spain). We are going to see how the design and material advantages of the building.

St Andrew's beach house has been designed by Sean Godsell Architects in Australia. He used contemporary style to design the house. The form and color designed according to the harmonies with the surrounding context. The form has been designed according to the summer sun as well as the wind from the sea near the house. The plan is consists of two elements in the order to move from element to element or outside to inside of the house. The main living hall of the building is focused on the sea view. The house opens at both ends the more enclosed space of one of the bedrooms which could be able to look out to the transparent walkway of the interior. (1) (2)

The living portion of the building is cantilevered towards the sea. The primary building materials are recyclable steel and glass. The shatter reduces the glare and direct sunlight of the building into the house. The outer layer of the building is made by industrial steel grading. Under the cantilevered portion is used as parking and another useful purpose. Concrete footing with mild steel column for the column which does usually used for construction. (1)

Prefabricated nature which has been designed by MYCC architects in Caldeira, Spain. The location has been situated at the dominations of eucalyptus trees and the presence of sea with steep slope terrain. The material of the building has been used according to the surrounding/ the landscape of the building. The roof and side facades have been built with Viroc (a prefabricated mixture of cement and wood) the color od these mixtures retain the surrounding landscape. The main faced of the house has been built with Cor-ten steel which does look like a rustic look has been machined as CNC machined panel which does look like a porous in the material of the panel were to retain the landscape of the building, eucalyptus tree has been punched in the panel. The material has been chosen because of the local tradition of fishing towns like Scuderia, used for construction. The fiber cement of the building gives strength efficiency in spite of being light and easily maintained. (3)

The interior spaces have been focused towards the landscape of the surrounding. The module has been built with structural beam and galvanized steel columns with floor and ceiling slabs of composite decking with RCC. This house has been assembled as block kind of stuff. (3)

So far both house has been constructed with some same material like COR-TEN steel etc… both has been designed according to the basis of incorporate the natural lighting and ventilation into the building and the materials used according to the basis of the surrounding context like the sea. The materials also play a major role in the design. The material blends according to the context. The exterior of the building is coped up with the site context and natural ventilation and lighting.

That’s all for now, we will discuss some other case studies.
