Steel joints

 GALVANIC ACTION:

when two metals are in contact, the one that is high in the galvanic series will become the anode and will corrode. The current flows from the positive high end of the table to the negative low end of the table

CO-EFFICIENT OF THERMAL EXPANSION:

The changes in temperature causes expansion and Contraction, these changes are quantified by co- efficient Specific gravity Density of the substance Density of water Tensile yield  the graphical representation of steel under pressure from . Deformation zone to failure or breakage of steel.

OIL CANNING:

Visible waviness in the flat areas of metal roofing and metal wall panels.

JOINTS:

BOLTS:

  • a bolted joint is a combination of a fastener and a nut. A long bolt with a nut, for example, is classified as a bolted joint.

  •  The combination of the bolt and nut is known as a bolted joint.

RIVET:

  • A connection between two members which are riveted together.

  • the permanent joining of parts by means of rivets; used mainly for fastening sheet and shaped rolled metal. Riveting may be used in lap, abutment, and double-coverplate joints.

PIN JOINT:

  • A pin joint is a connection between two objects that allows only relative rotation about a single axis.

  • A pin joint is a type of kinematic pair, an idealized description of the motion constraints within a machine, which allows motion analysis.
