LADY BIRD LAKE HIKING TRAIL RESTROOMS

DESIGN INTENTION: to create a sculptural landmark, public restroom with low maintenance
MATERIAL:
COR-TEN STEEL( cladding, roof, and door)
DESIGN :
STEEL PLATES OF VARYING HEIGHTS-
- defines the path, provides enclosure.
- The plates are 0.75" (19 mm) thick and range in widths of 1–2' (305–610 mm) and heights of 2–13' (610–3,960 mm)
- polished stainless-steel- toilet and sink
- galvanized steel- drinking fountain and rinse shower
FLOORING: CONCRETE, orange-hued crushed granite

BUILDING TYPE: an artwork storage unit
MATERIAL:
corrugated steel sheet- Roof and facade
DESIGN INTENTION:
Modernistic art composition with high pitched roof and eaves,
optimization of spaces
PLANNING:
The floor plan is simple and open. A staircase, the adjoining
sanitary block and kitchen, and a central, load-bearing service
wall define the open galleries.
DESIGN CONSIDERATION:
- To minimize the risk of water damage to the artworks only forced air is used for heating and humidity control
- Tightly sealed roof and wall for stable interior climate
