Steel is the world's most important construction material. It is used in every aspect of our lives; in cars and construction products, refrigerators and washing machines, cargo ships and surgical scalpels. It can be recycled over and over again without loss of property.

 

WORKABILITY OF STEEL

                             LESS IN WEIGHT- MORE IN STRENGTH

·         Steel is a tensile material. It has a high strength to weight ratio which means it has high strength per unit mass. So no matter how large the overall structure is, the steel sections will be small and lightweight, unlike other building materials.

·         Even a concrete is not strong enough in construction without the steel bars in it.

·         Steel is used as a reinforcing material with concrete thus increasing the stability of concrete.

·         Steel is a flexible material and can be used to construct fluid forms of structures easily and in less time compared to other materials of construction.

·         Steel can also be used as a composite material in combination with fabricated sheet coverings, steel sheets for roof coverings.

                     EVEN CONCRETE IS WEAK WITHOUT THE STEEL REINFORCEMENT BARS
