Introduction to Steel - Blog 1 - Yukta Yogeesh

 14/August/2020

This being my first blog, excuse my excitement having an impact on this. The reason I chose Steel is because its sustainable, flexible, structural, stable, spans huge spaces and I wanted to know how. The first images that come to my mind when someone says steel are kiln, silver, glossy, railings, trusses and re-bars, a flamboyant sheet for a stadium may be?!

Steel, although not like a building material, has been in use, in various forms (utensils/weapons) since the bronze age and iron age. It has been evolving since then. I was introduced to technical terms like casting, forging, drawing, extruding and rolling - different ways in which different steel products are made.

Usage of steel in weapons and pottery + IMPROVEMENT IN TECHNOLOGY/ INCREASING NECESSITY OF SPACE/ COMPOSING OR COMBINING STEEL WITH OTHER DIFFERENT MATERIAL = Flexible/ advanced steel that we are using today.
