INTRODUCTION TO STEEL- CLASS 1 = 14-08-2020

 • steel is just another type of iron alloy, but it has a much lower carbon content than cast and wrought iron and other metals are often added to give it extra properties

IT is to make strong substance made of iron and carbon, to make something strong or tough
steelmaking involves
casting – steel is melted and poured into mould
forging -  shaping of steel using compressive forces
rolling – steel is passed in to rollers to have a uniform thickness
drawing -  drawn product with accurate tolerances, favorable grain structure, improved material properties and good surface finish.
extruding - forced to flow through a die of a smaller cross sectional area, thus forming the work to the new cross section
Main uses of steel
It is used in construction of road, railways, infrastructure and buildings
