DAY 1 - INTRO TO STEEL

The class started with few brief discussions on steel. Interaction being an active part we were first got pulled into discussions on the basics again but in a different and a puzzling manner.

The  history of the usage of steel and metals in general and its evolution of use throughout the years seemed quite fascinating all over again from being a simple ingredient to  being used majorly in the high tech architecture, steel has just marked its own place in the field of the first ever semester to have classes conducted online. The elective of the course of this semester being steel architecture and design.

The approach taken to revisit the introduction to steel was new and was a breath of fresh air. the words being jumbled for the students to match the methods with its brief explanation of the process  involved  us and made the session interactive. Discussions on the methods being casting, forging, extracting, drawing and rolling.

It was exciting to know of the upcoming debate and hopefully we get to learn more things we have missed to learn ourselves.

We were also introduced to a new topic - AESS (Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel). I hope I get to learn more on the modern use of steel and get to use it in my design after knowing well about steel in and out.

The whole class was about getting to know steel in a better way .

It’s exciting to learn more on steel and hopefully sessions become more interesting as they proceed.

Looking forward to more such sessions .
