                               the first visual of the session
     
Today we had  very good sessions on learning the manufacture of steel and it properties
      oxygen process-electric arc furnace. carbon being the common additive in both the process.
      
    Then we learnt how a steel object reacts to any external compression or tension.
    Neck the instant crack like formation
    The three different possibilities when the steel is put into the Universal testing machine are:
          Elastic point  -retains the same state 
          Plastic stage  -deforms its shape or state 
          Fracture        -brittle
                               -ductile (cup and cone) 
                                   steel, silver, gold
                              -hardness-tested using rockwell hardness test
                                    diamond, concrete, steel
           all these factors help in determining the properties of steel 
       we were then asked to learn about brinell and vickner hardness test methods.

             vickner-macro as well as micro indentation
       At last we had a quick discussion on how steel was sustainable  or not,
        and we were asked to write another blog regarding that. To know my opinions if steel is sustainable            check out my next blog.
