BLOG 1- INTRO TO STEEL
LOOKING BACK ON HISTORY- "THE RISE OF METAL"
A great transformation from the invention of tools in the prehistoric period. Tools made for hunting to agriculture and the production of food are examples.
In yesterday's class, we discussed the three stages of prehistoric age - stone age, iron age, and bronze age and how steel emerged during the prehistoric times.
And we discussed the ferrous and non-ferrous alloys which invented during the prehistoric times. Non-ferrous metals such as copper, bronze, and tin discovered during the period. The metal forming process such as casting, forging, drawing, rolling, and extruding were discussed.
In today's world, 'STEEL' to a building is like a skeleton to the body.
In the 1800s, steel has been a major component in commercial building construction. It is quickly becoming the building material for many large construction projects.
Steel is mostly used in long-span structures, multi-story buildings.
Eiffel Tower and Howrah bridge are the best examples of steel structures.
I came to know a new term called 'AESS' (Architectural Exposed Structural Steel) in yesterday's class.
As of now, I only know the term called AESS and looking forward to the next class, to know more about it.
