BLOG 16 ERECTION, FABRICATION AND HYBRID SYSTEMS
ERECTION CONSIDERATIONS
Erection is the assembling of steel members in the expected
or predicted location for constructions. Once the member(s) are lifted and
placed in the required place, with the help of temporary supports and equipment,
they are fastened and fixed, depending on the nature of connection.
During the erection of steel structure, the risks and hazards are also to be taken note of.

Transportation issues
Most of the steel fabrication and surface finishing is done in shop, hence the transportation involves carrying large steel members considering the quality care of the same. In some cases, the transportation of large members is done individually with temporary bracing if required.
•
Site Constraints
Certain sites don’t provide with required space for sub
assembly of the steel members. The staging area for uncommonly sized or big members
require necessary equipment to place them on the framework. In such cases lifts employed
to place the steel member. Similarly, temporary supports and joineries, bracing
are also made use of during these space constraints.

Quality control (care in Handling)
AESS can come in odd and unimaginable sizes depending upon
the nature of the project. Not to forget the prefinished and coated members
which may require padded slings to avoid leaving marks on the finished surface.
The members with precisely fabrication are handled with lesser force during
erection.
