Case Study - Steel Structures - Blog 12 - Yukta Yogeesh
St. Andrews Beach House, Australia
The construction is primarily based on oxidised mild steel.
The other materials used in the construction are as follows:
-
Advantage of Oxidisation - It forms a layer on top of the
steel which reduces the rusting tendency of steel
Advantage of Mild Steel - It is cheap, it undergoes
carburisation which optimises the amount of carbon to withstand the weather.
Double-layer corrugated fiberglass - high packing strength
and puncture resistance were the properties that brought it to the use in
buildings
Web forge oxidised mild-steel industrial floor grating -
Strong, durable and recycled usage
PHC- Parallel Flange Channel section for joinery between the
2 shells along the walls
Angle section and galvanised rod for joinery between the
walls and the roof
RHS - Rectangular Hollow Sections and Mild Steel bracket to
fix the joinery in flooring
Posi - Strut trussed floor beam - for insulation and strong
flooring.
Reinforced Concrete pad footing - for foundation and
pathways
Deck is made up of timber/lumber
Prefabricated Nature, Cederia, Spain
The construction is based on COR-TEN and perforated
Braise-sollail steel panels.
The other materials used in the construction are as follows:
-
Wood Particles Cement Board - A sense of natural material,
with strength and load bearing capacity
Steel profile with Perforated braise- sollail sheets for
lighting and ventilation
Mineral wool for insulation and the usage of waterproof membrane
to protect wood
Sandwich panel - Aluminium and polyurethane foam core of
thickness 80mm
Steel tube sectioned for the joinery of the prefab walls and
the roof
CORTEN - steel shutter - Corrosion resistance and Tensile
enough for purpose
CNC - machine Cut - Advanced technology for 3D printing - mimicking
natural objects
Weathered steel screens for protecting the structure foam
the coastal effects.
