STEEL

DAY - 3

        MANUFACTURING OF STEEL

we where seeing steel manufacturing process, and we where seeing hot rolled steel is rolled out of the casting area to a specific thickness. cold rolled steel- The steel is run through cold rollers, stretching the grains, smoothing the surface, dimensioning cold hardening ñ to increase strength and hardness. Hammering and compressing quenching   - heats the steel and quickly cools it in water, oil, air. Strong and brittle. tempering- heating and controlled cooling process. To increase ductility. annealing- heating and cooling it very slowly to make hard steel soft. Cold working, Cutting and forming. galvanization- application of zinc coating to prevent rusting. hot dipped- repeated thick coating, zinc layer, matte grey color cold / electro corrosion prevention methods  -  painting, galvanized and chemically treated. reaction with fire prevention -enclosed with gypsum layers, encasing steel in. Concrete, concealed with composite materials. steel fines-electropolishing - it is a process that allows to decrease the surface roughness.electrolytic coloring- get in colors like bronze, gold, red, purple, green. burnishing  - color black is obtained by dipping in sodium dichromate, durable.acid etching - creates pattern by dipping the unprotected parts of the surface in acid.painting ñ applied to improve the visibility. Available in pre- painted sheets. enameling-coated with a mixture of ceramic powder and baked in oven at high . temperature, where it melts and vitrifies.stainless steel coloured with bronze, blue, gold, red, purple, green by chemical treatment.metallic coating- stainless steel can be coated with another metals like copper. retain its original luster and a thin oxidal film.
