STEEL PREPARATION - 21-08-2020

STEEL: 21-08-2020

TEMPERING:
to increase strength , hardness and ductility
heating and controlled cooling process

ANNEALING:
cold working, cutting and forming
heating and cooling it very slowly to make steel soft

GALVANIZATION:
it is an zinc coating in steel to prevent rusting
hot dipped method
immersing metal in the bath of molyen zinc to form thin layer. it increase durability by preventing oxidation. reapeating the process to form yhick coating. corrugation should be moulded before galvanized . final metal apperas to be zinc matte finish

GOLD DIPPED METHOD:
zinc layer is electrically created due to dipped electrodes it is less durable.

HOT STEEL SECTIONS:
are cheaper, easy to make, larger in size, temperature is 1700 degrees Fahrenheit, it is used in rail roads and I beams

COLD STEEL SECTIONS:
has high tolerance, very hard to work with cold steel, it has good surface finish.

HOW TO PREVENT CORROSION:
Thera are three process;
Painted
Galvanized
Chemically Treated

REACTION WITH FIRE:
it loose it strength with the increase in temperature
permanent change in steel microstructure

PAINTING:
stain steel does not require to be painted for protection
it is not so effective as other process
it is majorly used as asthetics process

ENAMELLING:
surface is coated with ceric powder and baked in oven at high temperature . protection process

physical vapour deposition
the colurs obtainable are gold , bronze, rose gold, burgundy
this process enchances the specific mechnical propertiee, friction coefficient

WEATHERING:
change in appearance and texture due to long exposure to atmosphere

mild steel and low alloy stells are highly susceptible to react with oxygen and causing rust in coastal and marine locations
