Shaping and finishes of steel blog5
There are five methods for shaping of steel
- Tempering- to increase strength, hardness and ductility, it is achieved by heating and controlled cooling process
- Annealing- cold working, cutting and forming heating and cooling it very slowly to make steel soft
- Galvanization- to prevent rusting zinc coating is done
Natural factors affecting steel
- Temperature-steel might contract and expand
- Precipitation- change in properties may occur if its not treated properly and drenched in water for long
- Humidity- corrosion
Finishes
- Acid etching- certain portion is dipped in acid and the rest is exposed
- Painting - increases visibility
- Enameling- to provide vitrified find by coating ceramic
- Metallic coating- coating with copper or tin
- Electropolishing- to reduce surface roughness
