Feel the steel

Day 2 of our class. It was so interesting because we learnt a lot about steel .And we also learnt about(minerals, rock,metal,alloy,ore)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Minerals-composed of the same substance throughout                                                                                Rock      -made up of 2 or more minerals                                                                                                    Metal     -an alloy of two or more metallic substance                                                                                Alloy      -a metal made by combining two or more metallic elements,especially to give greater strength or resistance to                                     corrosion                                                                                                                                                                        Ore             -a mineral or an aggregate of minerals from which a valuable constituent ,especially a metal can be profitably                                     mixed  or extracted                                                                                                                                                           And we learnt about the raw materials of steel:(Iron ore ,Coke ,Limestone)                                                                                      We  learnt about the process in making steel  :(Oxygen process, Electric arc furnace process)                                                         We also learnt about (ductile& hardness)                                                                                                                          Ductile:capable of  being drawn out into wire or threads able to be deformed losing toughness(silver,gold,steel)                                                                                                                            Hardness:it is a measure of how much a material resists changes in shape hard things resist pressure (diamond,concrete,steel)                                                                                                                             we also learnt about few tests like (rockwell hardness test,vicker test, brinell test) .And we learnt about plastic deformation  . we learnt about metals(physical composition,chemical composition) and we learnt about the advantages of steel and the came to an end it was very interesting and we had lots of fun in learning.         BY- Kishore.G
