BLOG 5- PROCESS IN STEEL SHAPING AND ITS FINISHES.

21 – August 20020

Hi folks,

Today before the class start a video is shown, In that video they have shown where the steel used in areas and how it’s manufactured. And then for today class  topic is  the process involved in SHAPING OF STEEL AND DIFFERENT TYPES OF FINISHES. Those are

-    Cold hardening

-      Tempering

-    Galvanization

-       Annealing

-      Quenching

Galvanisation these has 2 process

-          Cold dipped electric (shiny, less durable, expensive,), used in I beams

-          Hot dipped ( coated with thin layer of zinc.)

How steel reacts with fire

It is a non-combustible till its melting point. Can be prevented with chemical treatment and gypsum layer

Stainless steel (finishes)

-          Electro-polishing

-          Electrolytic colouring

-           Burnishing

-          Acid etching

-          Painting

-          Enamelling.

-          Physical vapor depostion

Electro-polishing

It reduce the surface roughness by electrochemical process

Enamelling

Mixture of ceramic powder is coated and  treated with high temperature

Painting

Increases the visibility. Aesthetic

Metallic coating

Coated with another metal

 Physical vapor deposition

It form a thin layer of protection while heating because of the atom.

so, when a steel is coated, the damages will happen only the coated material its acts a protective cover for a steel to avoid the damages
